Great to see you back! Love the write up as always. I’ve been saying this 4 game stretch is the most dominant I’ve seen this team. Pitching, defense, baserunning, situational/clutch hitting. It had it all. I was honestly feeling a bit down coming into the season with the state of our bench, but this series brought me ALL the way back in.
Brother you have a really sharp eye for the game and explain complex stuff with eloquence and wit. Reading your stuff is tremendous fun. I wouldn’t hesitate to become a paying subscriber if you ever decided to implement that
Didn't even notice the delayed Heyward substitution, albeit pretty obvious. Great hitting, good managing.
Have concerns about Arraez. Obviously early but hoped his full recovery from his hand injury would lead to prior form before last season, where his BB% and BABIP were very low for him. His Statcast numbers are bad so far, well below prior seasons. Hopefully some rust but whenever he comes up: a sharp but easily playable grounder or soft fly ball?
Thanks "Archi", good to have you back! It's been a long offseason, but a 4-0 start and a post from you highlighting how good these Padres could be makes me feel much better. Hope springs eternal! (at least for today)
Great analysis on subtle situations. Add situational maturity to what looks like a significantly improved chase rate to a healthy Tatis, it could be the full realization of Tatis as a big leaguer.
The other thing is that it’s obvious Shildt rarely misses on an opportunity to improve odds and put some pressure on the other team.

Missed you. Great analysis. I was at the game and only caught on to maybe half of what was going on in that inning. Thanks for filling in the gaps.
Also, I talked to AJ about Letters to A.J. late last season. He was unaware of it. We need to change that.

Well spoken Archie:-)
Great analysis! Stuff like this makes me appreciate what players do more and what I love about baseball

All hail the grit squad. And this article is incredible. Love the team first approach these players seem to be buying into.
Awesome analysis. This is the kind of stuff that makes me happy to subscribe!
Your content is so great. And I’m not just saying that because I’m on a high after the 4-game sweep

Good analysis! And well written. Worth the read, even though I don't follow baseball much.
